Meet The Song “Times Like These” By Conner Sweet

I am excited to introduce another song and its story! Meet “Times Like These” by Conner Sweet. Read our interview to see how the song came about and then check it out.

Who are the writers?
I wrote “Times Like These” with Lance Carpenter and Liz Hengber

Who are the performers?
Conner Sweet

Where did the idea come from?
We wrote “Times Like These” just a few days after a devastating tornado tore through Nashville in early March. The love seen throughout the community in the days following really inspired the song.

What came first, the music, the words, the idea?
As crazy as it sounds, this song literally wrote itself. It was so organic. It really only took a couple of hours to write.

Is it going to be a part of a larger collection, such as EP or album?
I signed my first publishing deal with Given Entertainment in January of 2019, and since then, I have been writing and working towards my artist project. I was even recording and planning on releasing a few songs this year. My team and I agreed, however, that “Times Like These” was such a special song that it might need to jump to the top of the list! More music is on the way though!

Lyrically, what perspective is the song told from?
“Times Like These” is written from my own point of view. I’m just a singer. I don’t have all the answers, but I do believe that when people come together to help each other, that’s what’s really important.

Were there any challenges while writing it?
I had never used the word “hesitation” in a song before. I wouldn’t say it was challenging, but it was fun to play off that rhyme.

What sets this song apart from your previous work? What sets this song apart from what is being played on the radio today?
Being my first single, I just hope people are excited to hear more! I’ve always known that I wanted to sing songs that I believe in, and hopefully, others can relate to my music as well!

Will you be releasing a video with this song?
There’s one out now! We released a lyric video a few weeks back. Just go to my website connersweet.com to see it and more!
