With their new, debut single out July 10th, I got the chance to interview with Tim James and Josh Misko! The new song titled “Crazy” is the first of several singles to be released throughout the rest of the year.
Check out all important links below at the end of this interview, including a special video with a dedication to Alzheimer’s Association. With this link you will also be directed to a special donation page where you can make a pledge. All digital proceeds from “Crazy” will be donated to the Alzheimer’s Association.
What’s your favorite kind of sandwich?
Tim: Veggie Sub – extra tomatoes
Josh: In N Out Double-Double, animal style! I know it’s technically a burger, but we can call it a sandwich. (Drools)
The Beatles or Elvis? Why?
Tim: Elvis – he was honestly my first inspiration for performance. I remember losing a lot of hours in front of my dial up computer watching his videos. He’s just so damn captivating.
Josh: Oh man, this is a tough one. Love them both, but probably Beatles for me. Their pop sensibility and songwriting blows me away to this day. Incredible musicians, those guys.
Lyrics to live by?
Tim: Isn’t every goodbye a chance to become
A bittersweet memory for someone
Don’t you ever look back with regret
Share with me a moment for all time
In a corner of your mind – David Nail
Josh: I get so tired of all this concrete
I get so tired of all this noise
Gotta get back up in the country
And have a couple drinks with the good ole’ boys
I just got to get me somewhere
Somewhere that I can feel free
Get me out of New York City, son
New York City’s killin’ me – Ray Lamontagne
“Desert Island” album?
Tim: Zac Brown Band – The Foundation
Josh: The Eagles – Hotel California
What does “country music” mean to you?
Tim: It’s the music that takes me home, the people I grew up with, the Friday night lights, the windows down – radio up – down for anything kind of nights, the parties out at the Manzanita Cemetery. It’s camp far west lake, and floating down the delta. It’s home.
Josh: Heart. Home. Real.
What country music artists do you listen to the most?
Tim: Luke Combs, Garth Brooks, George Strait, David Nail
Josh: Luke Combs, Merle Haggard, Tyler Childers, Garth Brooks
How would you describe your “sound”?
Tim: We’re just trying to make music that we want to listen to.
Josh: Couldn’t have said that better myself.
Where do you see your musical career in 5 years?
Tim: Touring full time wherever they’ll have us
Josh: Agreed!
Are there any instruments you don’t play but wish you did? Why?
Tim: I got my best guy on that 😉
Josh: I LOVE the fiddle, but man I can’t play a lick of that darn thing.
What was the best advice you have received?
Tim: You are the average of the top 5 people you spend your time with. – Heather & Greg Self – Jim Rohn
Josh: The key to discipline lies in self awareness.
What advice would you give to yourself at the start of your musical career?
Tim: Stay focused on your goals, learn an instrument… Ha!
Josh: Stop drinking so much beer!
Where does most of your inspiration come from?
Tim: Melodies that lead to memories
Josh: Heart, and a desire for real.
What do you consider to be your biggest achievement in your career so far?
Tim: The songs we are about to put out are ones I truly do believe in.
Josh: Agreed! I’ve never been more proud and excited.
What’s on the horizon for you that you would like to share?
Both: We have dedicated our profits from our single release to The Alzheimer’s Association. Please go out and order “Crazy” so we can raise a ton of money for them! They’re incredible people, and we’re very close to the cause.
