For this week’s MEET feature I interviewed brothers Lazer and Levi! Check out where these guys get their inspiration, what they are listening to, and more. Also listen to their new single out now called “That Was You & Me”. They have an interesting sound that I find refreshing and see how they describe it below.
What’s your favorite kind of sandwich?
Levi: An Italian
Lazer: Rueben
The Beatles or Elvis? Why?
Levi: As a person who loves to dance, I’m gonna have to say Elvis.
Lazer: Elvis, because he started it all.
Lyrics to live by?
Levi: “I believe my life’s gonna see the love I give return to me” – John Mayer
Lazer: “Don’t stop believin’” – Journey
“Desert Island” album?
Levi: George Strait – 50 Number Ones
Lazer: Probably Achtung Baby from U2, or Songs from the Rain by Hothouse Flowers because they have a lot of childhood memories tied to them.
What country music artists do you listen to the most?
Levi: In 2018, Spotify told me Vince Gill was my most listened to artist, but I think Cody Johnson’s going to take the reign for 2019.
Lazer: Alan Jackson, Keith Urban, Chris Stapleton. Been listening to Brent Cobb a lot lately.
How would you describe your “sound”?
Lazer and Levi: Smack dab in the middle of Brothers Osborne and Vince Gill with a little sugar coating of Lady Antebellum and hints of Keith Urban.
Where do you see your musical career in 5 years?
Lazer and Levi: Selling out the legendary venue of Red Rocks back home in Colorado.
Are there any instruments you don’t play but wish you did? Why?
Levi: The Pedal Steel. There’s something about the emotion a Pedal Steel evokes that can turn a good song into a GREAT song.
Lazer: Piano because it’s a beautiful instrument, and a better variety of chords.
What was the best advice you have received?
Levi: Done is better than Perfect
Lazer: Don’t ever ever ever ever give up, ever.
What advice would you give to yourself at the start of your musical career?
Levi: Quit trying to be something/someone you’re not. Stick to your roots.
Lazer: Don’t ever ever ever ever give up, ever.
Where does most of your inspiration come from?
Levi: The God honest truth in the happenings of everyday life.
Lazer: Just picking up the guitar and playing.
What do you consider to be your biggest achievement in your career so far?
Lazer and Levi: Our nomination for “Best New Artist” at the Rocky Mountain Country Music Awards. Also, having inspired others to pick up the guitar.
What’s on the horizon for you that you would like to share?
Lazer and Levi: Well having moved to Nashville in March of 2019, there has been an influx of inspiration creatively. So with that, you can expect more new music from us in the near future.
