Getting to Know…Garrett Biggs

What’s your favorite kind of sandwich?
Awwww man. That’s honestly a tough one. I’m honestly gonna have to go with a Hot Mama burger from Miss Barlow’s back home. Those things are straight fire!

The Beatles or Elvis? Why?
Elvis. Love his grooves and his voice. My buddy was really big into Elvis when we were in our middle school years and he kinda got me hooked on him.

“Desert Island” album?
This one changes everyday too. Haha If I had to pick one, it would have to be ZZ Top: Greatest Hits 1992. Spun that thing so much growing up as a kid. Plus if I was on an island, I feel like its necessary to take an album full of hit songs!

What country music artists do you listen to the most?
I’m always finding new ones and trying out their music. But, the tried and true guys/gals I always go back to are Jason Aldean, Alan Jackson, Merle Haggard, Carrie Underwood, and Morgan Wallen. Morgan is probably one of my favorites right now.

How do you see country music evolving within 10 years?
I truly believe that history repeats itself. Personally, I love where country music has been, where it’s at, and where it’s going. I think we are getting back to the deeper/emotional side of songwriting with the releases that are coming out, and that’s awesome. I see country music going back to it’s core in a certain type of way, but I think the influence of todays artist is here to stay. And I’m here to say that it is an okay thing. Country music will always be country music as long as their is emotion behind the song. It’ll be amazing to see the releases to come within the next 10 years for sure.

Where do you see your musical career in 5 years?
In 5 years, I’m praying to be signed to a major publisher and a major label with some major cuts under my belt. I would love to be on the road as a direct support for a major act with a song of my own climbing the charts. Good lord willing, that may happen someday. We shall see!

Are there any instruments you don’t play but wish you did? Why?
Many. Haha Drums and Piano being the two that come to mind! Maybe someday I’ll actually get the nerve to pick one up and learn it.

What was the best advice you have received?
Always stay humble and trust God..and make hay while the sun shines. Don’t take a day for granted and always, always be willing to work your butt off.

Where does most of your inspiration come from?
Being in the moment. I don’t know how many times that I have been in a write with nothing to go off of. Then next thing you know, we’re writing a song about exactly what we were talking about. That’s raw inspiration right there if you ask me! I actually draw a ton of inspiration from listening to other’s music as well.

What do you consider to be your first big break in your career so far?
I’m still waiting on my “big break”. But, I will say I’ve been blessed enough to have some friends in Nashville that are willing to take a chance on the new guy in town. So that in itself means the world to me and in my mind is my “big break” to date.

What’s on the horizon for you that you would like to share?
I’m currently in the studio right now cutting some tracks for a couple new singles. I’m super stoked for this new stuff. I’m working with a super talented producer/engineer here in Nashville by the name of Colt Capperrune. We’re gonna be doing some videos for the singles and stuff and then it shouldn’t be too long before it’s out for you guys to listen to! I’m also booking up a lot of shows right now in the midwest and south..or really wherever the wind takes me. So be on the look out on my socials @garrettbiggsmusic for new tour stops and announcements. Other than that…we’re always writing new stuff! So if you wanna hear it first, go over and drop a follow and like at the socials!
