Getting to Know…Q and A with Leah Turner
One thing you can’t deny about Leah Turner’s music is the energy. She put her all in each song on her self-titled EP, adding a genuineness to her work. When interviewing her for our Getting to Know segment her excitement toward life worked it’s way into each answer! I can’t wait to see hear some new music from her.
What’s your favorite kind of sandwich?
PHILLY CHEESE STEAK
The Beatles or Elvis? Why?
Elvis…Because he’s ELVIS and crossed so many lines.
Lyrics to live by?
Love can build a bridge.
What country music artists do you listen to the most?
George Strait, Keith Whitley, Brooks and Dunn, top 40 radio!
How do you see country music evolving within 10 years?
I see it crossing so many lines and letting people that usually wouldn’t come into our world, come on in!!
Where do you see your musical career in 5 years?
Have a few hits under my belt.. Headlining some tours .. And being the soundtrack to peoples’ lives, like country has been to mine!
Are there any instruments you don’t play but wish you did? Why?
Saxophone! It is just so beautiful and complicated!
What was the best advice you have received?
Never give up and be the best you, you can be. Trust in God’s timing.
Where does most of your inspiration come from?
LIFE !!!!!!!!! Good and the bad.
What do you consider to be your first big break in your career so far?
Having a top 40 single and being on tour with the awesome Brad Paisley.
What does “California Country” mean to you?
Being raised by a cowboy by the ocean!
What’s on the horizon for you that you would like to share?
I have a new song “Cowboy’s Love” coming out on CMT November 20th and will be in Country Weekly’s November issue with behind the scenes of the “Cowboy’s Love” video.
