Turnpike Troubadours Album Review

The Turnpike Troubadours is a red dirt country music band from Oklahoma. Their self titled album was released on September 18th.

The album presents itself with a genuine country sound layered with guitars, steel pedal and

My favorite track on the album is “Long Drive Home”. The chorus is catchy and easy to sing along with, even with a little sadness in its tone.

The current single “Down Here” showcases the bands interesting take on their vocals. It’s almost as if the lead vocals are simply places on top of the instrumentation track rather loosely. The slight strain to Evan Felker’s voice adds the dusty tone that is present on the entire album. With a slight upbeat tone the song is about going back home and realizing things are different, including yourself.

The Turnpike Troubadours have a big wall of sound full of classic country twang that hits you like a thick southern accent. Each song on the album is fleshed out and rich with texture.

Turn off the radio and check these guys out. Then find more stuff like this! You won’t regret it.
